The Daniel McIntyre / St. Matthews Community Association is embarking on a new exciting initiative by facilitating the development of a comprehensive five-year housing plan (2012 to 2016) for the Daniel McIntyre and St. Matthews neighbourhood areas.

The five-year housing plan will be developed collectively by the community. It intends to define what a healthy mix of housing types and tenure can look like in the area as well as to seek strategies and opportunities to achieve that mix. The plan will identify initiatives that would improve the diversity and quality of the housing stock and serve as a guide for creating funding priorities for private and public investment. It will follow Winnipeg’s new secondary plan http://www.winnipeg.ca/ppd/OurWinnipeg/pdf/CompleteCommunities.Jul26.2010.pdf and identify possible areas for intensification and densification. The housing plan will reflect neighbourhood land use priorities and strive to improve community relations by balancing housing priorities with other community needs such as public green space, parks and other community amenities.
