About Us
Our mandate is to plan and coordinate neighbourhood renewal efforts through Community Development and Community Economic Development. Our mission is to empower the community of Daniel McIntyre / St. Matthews to achieve social, cultural, economic and environmental well being.Ours is a vision of a Daniel McIntyre/St. Matthews community which is stable, healthy and safe; a neighbourhood that is diverse, welcoming, vibrant, clean and self reliant.
DMSMCA is a not-for-profit community organization that is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors comprised of community residents, organizations and stakeholders in the Daniel McIntyre and St. Matthews community. Since 2007, our work has included $249,000 worth of housing renewal projects, the creation of two new community gardens, organising around local safety issues, the development of the Orioles Bike Cage and engaging residents in community building events. Over 50 groups and organisations have benefited from over $175,000 in grants for projects that increase community connecting and capacity.
DMSMCA defines our development goals through regular consultations and we work with residents and stakeholders in the Daniel McIntyre and St. Matthews communities, on various issues including poverty reduction, environmental sustainability, and reaching social, cultural and economic renewal and revitalization in our neighbourhoods. DMSMCA operates on the principles of Community Economic Development (CED). DMSMCA receives core funding from Neighbourhoods Alive!, an initiative of the Province of Manitoba
